Council resolved at the August 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting, to conduct a survey of residents on the recreational needs of the Chittering community before making a final decision whether to proceed with a modified option for the project.  This survey will be available in hard copy and online, and will enable council to determine the community desire for the proposed projects and the communities future sport and recreational needs.  This will inform future council planning processes.  The survey closes on 9th October 2020

MARKYT Community Resilience Scorecard

 In accordance with the Western Australian Disability Services Act 1993, Part 5 “Disability Access and inclusion Plans by public authorities” the Shire of Chittering Council are seeking public comment on the draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2023 – 2026.

The Shire of Chittering is currently reviewing the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) with intent to update for the next four year period.  To support this review the Shire is seeking community and stakeholder feedback as to whether the Shire is adequately supporting Disability Access and Inclusion across Shire service provision and facilities; aligning to the WA Government's Disability Services Commission's outcomes.

The Shire is seeking to understand the experiences and needs of people with a disability for consideration in the development of a realistic and achievable DAIP while factoring in prioritisation (including discretionary versus non-discretionary), planning requirements and implementation.  It is aimed to have final DAIP 2023-2026 publicly available via the Shire's website in early 2023.

To provide you feedback, please access the Survey as follows:

  • Obtain a hard copy survey by collecting  from the Shire's Library or Administration Office; or

Chittering Community Complex Update

Chittering Community Complex, Community Update

Council resolved at the March Ordinary Meeting to proceed with the Chittering Community Complex with variations, the key points are:
  • The intention now is to build a community centre in Lower Chittering, and a new club and change-rooms in Muchea.
  • Rates from new businesses and houses in the area will be used to pay off a loan so that this can be built without increasing rates.
  • Local trades people will be used to help stimulate the economy, as a way for the Shire to help keep our local businesses in the area.

Update as at 10 June 2020: 

A variation request has been submitted to the AusIndustry BBRF team seeking support for the completion of a new Community Centre at Lower Chittering and;  a new Club and Changeroom facility at the Muchea Oval.  The outcome of this request is expected soon.  

Public Environmental Review and Preliminary Documentation - Bindoon Bypass

Main Roads WA is proposing to construct a bypass around Bindoon town and Bindoon Hill, located within the Shire of Chittering approximately 70km north east of Perth and approximately 13km north of Muchea, WA.  The Bindoon Bypass will divert from the existing GNH at the Chittering Roadhouse, running to the west of Bindoon and re-joining the GNH north of Calingiri Road.  This will involve the construction of 47km of new highway.

The Shire is in receipt of a request to amend the Muchea Industrial Park (MIP) Precinct 1 Local Structure Plan. The current approved Local Structure Plan currently identifies the land to be used for ‘General Industry’ purposes. The proposed amendment seeks to identify a 2.1 hectare parcel of land as a ‘Special Use’ zone.

At its meeting held 18 March 2020, Council resolved to adopt Scheme Amendment No. 67 for advertising, which seeks to rezone Lots 800-804, 192, 194 and 35 Great Northern Highway, Muchea from ‘Agricultural Resource’ to ‘Light Industrial’ under the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme No. 6.

In association with this Scheme Amendment, a Local Structure Plan has been prepared over the land and is also being advertised for comment.
