BUSHFIRE WATCH & ACT FOR PARTS OF LOWER CHITTERING.

BUSHFIRE ADVICE FOR PARTS OF CHITTERING AND MUCHEA.

Keep yourself up to date on information via www.emergency.wa.gov.au. If you don’t have access to internet or phone, tune in to ABC Perth on 720AM (use your car radio if you need to).
All evacuation centres are currently based in Perth metro area and being managed by Department of Communities.
The Shire of Chittering currently has minimal involvement in the fire as this is being predominately managed through the metro area, however this may change as conditions change today. Keep up to date on any changes via www.emergency.wa.gov.au.
What to do if you want to help out evacuees.
The Department of Communities is responsible for coordinating the provision of welfare support services to people affected by an emergency or disaster.
UNLESS specifically requested donations may not be appropriate at this time and could hinder the efforts of evacuation centre staff. Department of Communities will put a call out if there are items that are needed.
If you are able to provide practical support to people seeking places to take animals you can share via local Facebook pages and/or contact the Shire as we are collating a list of resources available.
Local knowledge and support is invaluable in times of need. Keep in contact with those friends and family who you know to be vulnerable or who may need a little bit of assistance to enact their bushfire plan. The earlier this can be enacted the better.
