Taste of Chittering 2022 Program announcement

This year was the first year that the Shire of Chittering held its ever popular Australia Day event in Lower Chittering. With favourable weather conditions, a beautiful morning was enjoyed by everyone who joined us to celebrate the Shire of Chittering’s Australia Day breakfast and festivities.

The Muchea Hall redevelopment project, now referred to as the Muchea Recreation Centre (MRC), has kicked off with the appointed Reference Group members meeting alongside Site Architecture Studio representatives to consider the site placement of the new building.

The Shire of Chittering welcomed the Bindoon Primary School Student Council on 18 August 2020 to Council Chambers to conduct their Term 3 meeting.

The Western Australian Regional Achievement & Community Awards have been launched for 2020 and the state-wide search has begun.

The Shire is aware that many in the community may have concerns about coronavirus and want to know what is fact and what, if anything, they should be doing to protect themselves or prepare for any potential escalation of the situation.

Chittering is embracing WA Seniors Week this year with four days of activities for senior residents in the Chittering community. WA Seniors Week runs from Sunday 10th November to Sunday 17th November and is a special time of celebration for Western Australian seniors. To show our appreciation for seniors, the Shire of Chittering are running four different events this year which cater for all seniors in our community.

Once every five years the Valuer General’s Office (VGO) re-values properties, taking into consideration changes to market values, additions, and land condition. This year all the GRV properties in the Shire of Chittering have been revalued by the VGO.

Shire President, Cr Gordon Houston is pleased to announce that following its consideration of candidates from a well qualified, competent, and experienced field of applicants, the Shire of Chittering Council voted unanimously at a Special a Meeting last night to appoint Mr Matthew Gilfellon as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 01 July 2019.

Wednesday 27th March saw an announcement of the Federal Government’s $70 million commitment through the Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative for the Wheatbelt Secondary Freight Route (WSFR).

The Shire of Chittering with funding from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund has today launched the Muchea Industrial Park Investment Prospectus.

All Shire of Chittering Ratepayers who paid their rates and charges in full by Wednesday, 29 August 2018 were automatically entered into the Rates Incentive Prize Draw.

The Shire of Chittering’s 2018/19 Budget was adopted by Council at its Ordinary Council Meeting on 19 July 2018.

From 1 July 2018, the supply of lightweight plastic bags will be banned in Western Australia, bringing WA into line with other Australian states including South Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory, who already have similar bans in place.

Pursuant to sections 3.12(6) and 3.12(1) of the Local Government Act 1995, the Council of the Shire of Chittering advises that the following local law was gazetted on 7 July 2017 and will come into operation on 21 July 2017.

The Shire of Chittering resolved at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 17 August 2016 to adopt the Cats Amendment Local Law 2016.

The Shire of Chittering has resolved to adopt the Cats Local Law 2015 at its meeting held on 28 October 2015.

Council at its meeting held on 17 September 2014 resolved to adopt the Shire of Chittering Extractive Industries Local Law 2014.

Council at its meeting held on 21 May 2014 resolved to make the Shire of Chittering Local Government (Council Meetings) Local Law 2014.

The Shire of Chittering has resolved to adopt the Bush Fire Brigades Local Law at its Ordinary Meeting on 19 December 2012.
