OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT – APPLICATION FOR DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT PANEL (DAP) – Proposed Battery Energy Storage System - Lot 1261 (RN 722) Old Gingin Road, Muchea

The Shire is in receipt of an Application for Development Approval for a battery energy storage system at the above-mentioned address. The proposal covers approximately 0.56 ha and is located in a 0.93 ha footprint within the existing Tronox Chandala Processing Plant site. It comprises a 38MW BESS facility, two transformers, a water run-off storage area, associated electrical infrastructure and internal access arrangements. The proposal will operate as a privately owned entity within the Tronox Chandala Processing Plant.

The proposal will provide electricity storage infrastructure to support the ongoing transition of Western Australia's energy network. By storing electricity during periods of excess generation and discharging electricity during periods of increased demand, the BESS will improve the reliability, resilience and flexibility of the South West Interconnected System.

Please refer to the attached documents/plans for further information.
