The Shire of Chittering is proud to announce the successful commencement of the Lower Chittering Youth and Community Hub Project, a much-anticipated project that will deliver vital social infrastructure to one of the region’s fastest growing areas.

Thanks to the support of Lotterywest and the Small Grants Program Election Commitments program, delivered by the Wheatbelt Development Commission, the project will see the installation of a modular building that provides a dedicated, fit-for-purpose space for community groups, home schoolers, and small business.

Lower Chittering’s population continues to grow rapidly, yet the area currently lacks facilities that support social connection, education, and community development. The new Hub will provide a welcoming environment for people of all ages to gather, collaborate, and build stronger community ties.

Shire President Aaron King said the project represents the first step in delivering a broader vision for Lower Chittering.

“The Youth and Community Hub is the beginning of a series of projects that will transform Lower Chittering into a more connected, vibrant, and inclusive place. This facility will provide opportunities for residents to learn, share, and grow together. This project has been made possible with funding from the State Government’s Small Grants Program Election Commitments program, delivered by the Wheatbelt Development Commission and Lotterywest, enabling the Shire to bring the vision to life.

The Hub forms Stage One of a long-term plan to deliver community infrastructure for Lower Chittering, with further initiatives in the pipeline to support the needs of the expanding population.

The Shire looks forward to working closely with the community to activate the new space and ensure it becomes a cornerstone for local engagement and innovation.’
