Chalice has now confirmed that: “the amendment doesn’t relate to the transport route.”
The latest information provided is that Chalice has lodged a Section 43A amendment with the EPA (and an equivalent variation with the Commonwealth) relating to the Gonneville Project. The amendment includes reduced clearing at the proposed mine site, removal of underground mining, a small increase in clearing along the mine site access roads for safety, addition of on-site solar power alongside the grid connection, and a single preferred infrastructure corridor for the water pipeline and powerline.
It may be subject to public comment; however, we have not yet received confirmation of the consultation process or timing.
The Shire will continue to closely monitor the assessment process and will share any public consultation opportunities as soon as they become available.
