PLANT OPERATOR – GENERAL HAND
Permanent Full-Time | 9-Day Fortnight | Level 5
Salary: $61,848 - $73,119 per annum plus superannuation:
Benefits include:
- Additional AWC $1.03 per standard hour worked
- 12% Guaranteed superannuation
- Up to an additional 6% matching employer contribution
- 9-day fortnight
- Four weeks annual leave plus two additional Public Service Holidays

About the Position
The Shire of Chittering is seeking an experienced Plant Operator to undertake road maintenance, and infrastructure works across the Shire. The role involves the safe and efficient operation of heavy plant and machinery, including backhoes, loaders, skid steers, excavator, rollers and water truck, together with general civil construction and maintenance duties. Reporting to the Works Supervisor, the successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of the Shire's roads, drainage, landfill, fleet and infrastructure maintenance programs, while providing support to parks and reserves operations when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
- Right to work in Australia.
- Current HR Driver's Licence.
- Current Construction White Card.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
- Experience operating heavy plant, including backhoes, loaders, skid steers and trucks.
- Ability to undertake manual labour and work in outdoor environments.
