The Shire is in receipt of an Application for Development Approval for the continued operation and expansion of an existing extractive industry (clay quarry) on Lot 301 Wandena Road, Lower Chittering.

Topsoil and overburden will be stockpiled in bunds around the perimeter of the excavation area for use in screening, drainage management, and rehabilitation

Excavation works will utilise equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, dump trucks and haul trucks to remove topsoil, overburden, and clay

To minimise visual and amenity impacts, operations will generally occur within the pit area. No on-site processing, crushing or screening is proposed; extracted clay will be transported directly to off-site brick manufacturing facilities

Transport

Truck movements

Up to approximately 60 truck movements per day during carting periods, with carting occurring intermittently (approximately 4 days per month)

Access

Access to the site is via an existing crossover from Wandena Road, with haulage vehicles travelling via Wandena Road to Great Northern Highway for transport to off-site facilities

Workforce

Hours of operation

7:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Saturday; no operations on Sundays or public holidays
