Chittering Road Bridges 4026 & 4027 - Reconstruction - 2021/22
The Shire of Chittering will be undertake bridge reconstruction works on Chittering Road, south of the Julimar Road intersection. These works will involve the removal of the existing bridges 4026 & 4027 and replacement with concrete culverts crossings. Both bridges have been deemed at the end of their life and require replacement.
These works will result in the closure of a section of Chittering Road for an extended period of time. The road will be closed North and South of the bridges, with access for local traffic only.
A detour will be in place via Blue Plains Road to the North and Muchea East Road to the South. The section of road where the bridges are located will not be passable to traffic.
Traffic management will be in place for the duration of these works. Please obey warning signage and take care when traveling through the area.
This project has been 100% funded by Main Roads Western Australia as part of their asset preservation program.
The Shire will commence works onsite from January 16, 2023 and anticipates to have these works completed in April 2023, weather permitting.
We apologise in advance for the inconvenience this will cause for many road users and residents on the detour but we envisage that work will be completed as soon as is possible; and that the benefits will far outweigh the temporary inconvenience by keeping the road safe for all traffic.
If you require any additional information on this project, please contact the Technical Services department.
