Rural Urban Interface Exercise on 5 November 2022
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services with the support of the Shire of Chittering are planning to conduct a “RURAL URBAN INTERFACE” exercise in your area on Saturday, 5 November 2022.
The exercise will be attended by volunteer firefighters from both the Fire and Rescue and Bush Fire Brigades from the Shires of Chittering, Mundaring and City of Swan and is intended to practice and evaluate the performance of personnel when defending properties in a rural urban interface environment.
It will involve a theoretical fire scenario with crews assessing properties and allocating resources to defend those properties based on the information provided. In real terms, this means that firefighters may attend your property to conduct an assessment of the level of bushfire preparedness in order to determine the resources required to defend the property in the event of a fire.
At the conclusion of the exercise (and potentially during) you will have the opportunity to receive specific advice on steps that you can take to improve your property’s preparedness and defendability in a bushfire situation.
The exercise is planned to commence at 8:00am and conclude no later than 2:00pm on Saturday, 5 November 2022. On the day an exercise control point will be established on Reserve Road in the Wildflower Ridge Estate with personnel available to answer any questions that you may have on the day.
Please register your property no later than close of business on Friday, 28 October 2022
