Get your Wellies ready.....Its Mud Time!

Published: Friday, 26 April 2019 at 4:00:00 PM

Wear Ya Wellies is the Shire of Chittering’s annual, free family fun day and it is set to be even messier than last year.  So dress for mess, and head to Edmonds Reserve in Bindoon on Sunday 26 May

From 10am to 3pm you will be able to enjoy all of the mess, mud and nature based activities that we have lined up for this, our sixth, Wear Ya Wellies event.   FREE ACTIVITIES include Junior Landcare, Welly Toss Competition, Native Wildlife and Baby Animal Displays, Ride-on Train, Face Painting, Solar Viewing, Water Rockets, plus our Nature Play Zone with clay face painting from Educated By Nature, as well as messy play and a mud/water slide from Messy Moments.  The super popular Hay Mud Pit will be super muddy this year and the Toddler Mud Pit will have some additional fun included, along with only tiny tot deep mud.  Just for the older mud beasts, the Muchea Plumbing and Gas (MPG) Mini Mud Run will have two different levels to make it a little harder in the afternoon.

The Bindoon Farmers Market, our local monthly community market, will be onsite offering local handmade arts ‘n’ crafts, home grown plants, and fruit ‘n’ vegetables along with a fantastic range of home produce.  There will be market stalls inside a HUGE marquee as well as under the trees, so make sure you grab yourself a memento of your muddy day, or some treats for the ride home.

Make sure you don’t miss out on the live shows on the Main Stage either.  Roxanne’s Dance Workshop will be presenting a routine or two, and Izzy Dinosaur will be on site to teach your kids all about Road Safety.  Plus, thanks to Chittering Landcare, we are lucky to have Marissa Verma, from Bindi Bindi Dreaming presenting two Bush Food Kitchen workshops, one at 11am and one at 1pm.

Plenty of Food and drinks will be on hand to feed your “muddy monsters”, along with a large undercover seating area inside the huge marquee where you can rest your weary wellies.  Remember to bring along a change of clothes and a towel as there will be a change station with showers to help at the end of the day.  We suggest you wear your “dirty clothes” and consider purchasing a Wellies T-shirt on your way in the gate, for during or after your mud play!  Stock is limited so first in “best dressed”!

Thanks go to Lotterywest, the Road Safety Commission, Muchea Plumbing and Gas, Chittering Landcare, Educated by Nature, Dynamic Group Muchea, Messy Moments, Northern Valleys News, Bindoon Farmers Market, Chittering Youth Krew, and all of our amazing volunteers for helping to make this FREE family fun day possible.

Free tickets are available from Eventbrite.  And, don’t forget to post photos of you in your most wonderful wellies (before, during and after the event) on the Wear Ya Wellies Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/wearyawellies.

Please remember that this is smoke free event, and dogs will not be permitted in to the event.
