Archibald Street Footpath Works - Stage 2

Published on Wednesday, 11 September 2019 at 9:07:55 AM

During the 2018/19 financial year, the Shire undertook stage 1 of the Archibald Street Footpath Construction project. These works involved constructing a 2.1m wide dual use footpath from the Archibald Street and Philmore Street intersection to the Fewster Street intersection. Drainage upgrades were also made during these works to improve the flow of storm water along Archibald Street.

This project has been funded equally by the Department of Transport’s WA Bicycle Network Grant and the Shire of Chittering. This project will be completed over a 2 year period, with the first 750m being completed in 2018/2019 and the second 750m being completed in 2019/2020.

The Shire wishes to advise that stage 2 of this project will be commencing shortly. Stage 2 will involve further drainage upgrades and the construction on a 2.1m wide dual use footpath from the Fewster Street intersection up to Payne Street.  Kerbing will be installed along the entirety of Archibald Street at the completion of this project. We expect these works to commence in mid -September and last approximately 6 weeks until completion.

Works will involve minimal disruption to the residents of Archibald Street, with property access to be maintained at all times, with the exception of when concrete pouring is taking place.

The Shire hopes that the community of Muchea embrace the construction of this new footpath and that it enables and encourages more cycling within our town site to access the strategic destinations such as Muchea Hall, John Glenn Park, Muchea IGA, and Muchea BMX track.
