A TASTE OF CHITTERING 2020 program revealed!

Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 October

Chittering’s annual A TASTE OF CHITTERING festival returns to the picturesque Nesci Estate Wine Farm on October 17 and 18, just an easy 45-minute drive north-east of the Perth CBD.

An eclectic and diverse program will showcase the local food, wine, beer, produce, and art of the Chittering region with market stalls, pop-up dining, cooking demonstrations, live music and family entertainment.

This year, exciting new additions to the program include guided electric bike tours where guests can soak up Chittering’s green rolling hills and valleys, fragrant citrus orchards and stunning Spring wildflowers.

A beer brewing competition - A SIP OF CHITTERING – is a new initiative open to all amateur brewers, with the winning beer made in a batch for release by Outback Brewing Co.
Thousands of food lovers, families, locals and day-trippers are expected to visit Nesci Estate across the weekend, with gates opening at 10.00 am each day (to 5.00 pm on Saturday and 3.00 pm on Sunday).
The event program is now online at www.atasteofchittering.com.au, with additional epicurean ticketed events announced soon.

Highlights of the main program include:

The Grower’s Marketplace will offer the best of local seasonal produce, food, beverages, flowers, baked goods and sweet treats.  Sample and purchase region specialties such as gourmet fungi, black garlic, fresh honey, pickles and preserves, olive oil, spices and organic teas.

The best quality fruit and vegetables from the local sustainable and ethical bio-diverse food community will be represented by regional organisations The Northern Valleys Locavore and Slow Food Movement.

Pre-ordered picnic hampers and veggie boxes packed with the freshest and tastiest regional produce are available through the Northern Valleys Locavore Store. Simply pre-order through the festival website and collect on the day.

From fresh fruit icy poles and pressed juices, to cupcakes, pastries, pretzels and popcorn, there is something for every taste at the Grower’s Marketplace.

A TASTE OF CHITTERING will host pop up dining at its finest.  Graze the afternoon away on French cheeses, gourmet pizza, Korean fusion, Mexican, burgers, baked potatoes, gelato, coffee and fresh juices.  Vegan and gluten free offerings will be available.

This 18+ area is the place to enjoy a beverage or cleansing ale from local wineries, breweries or award-winning boutique distillery Old Young’s.

Wines will be showcased from Nesci Estate, Glenowen Wine, Bindoon Estate and Stringybark Winery.  Beers from local brewers Outback Brewing Co and 14K Brewery will be poured fresh on tap.

An exciting new addition to the 2020 program is A TOUR AROUND THE COUNTRYSIDE - guided electric bike tours that venture through Chittering’s charming orchard and countryside scenery. With limited tickets, guests will be able effortlessly cycle 35km in two hours, visiting key attractions such as the wildflower trail.

Local company Paul’s Eco E-Bike Tours will host two to eight guests per tour. Included in the package is an electric mountain/road bike, helmet, bottle of water, professional tour leader and a half hour wine tasting at Stringybark Winery.

Tours will depart from Nesci Estate and run on Saturday 17 October from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm, and on Sunday 18 October from 11.00 am – 1.00 pm.

Tickets are $60 per ticket, with pre-bookings highly recommended at www.atasteofchittering.com.au.

New to the 2020 program is A SIP OF CHITTERING - a homebrewed beer competition open to all amateur brewers. Competing for Gold, Silver and Bronze awards the hunt is on for the best local brew that meets the brief (either through ingredients or style) of ‘a beer for Perth’s countryside’. Entry is free, with individuals allowed up to ten entries in different beer styles.

Brews will be judged by a panel as a key event on the main stage based on aroma, appearance, flavour and overall impression.  The winner of the Gold award will be awarded a trophy along with a small batch of their winning brew produced by The Outback Brewing Co, set to be released at Fremantle Beer Festival in November 2020.

Electronic entry forms must be received by October 12 and brews by October 14.  For full terms, conditions, guidelines and entry forms visit the website www.atasteofchittering.com.au.

Guests will be treated to live entertainment across the whole festival with a range of roaming performers and music acts. Libby Hammer’s spectacular Wildflower Stilt Walkers will appear from 12.00 to 2.00 pm on both days.  Live local musicians from Bindoon Entertainment Arts Theatre will perform across the weekend.

Showcasing vendors from the local Chittering community and surrounding regions, the Countryside Marketstalls will exhibit unique and special goods from arts and crafts, to beauty, clothing, homewares and more.

Guests can browse for mosaics, knitting, handmade cards, essential oils, skincare, candles, timber works, jigsaws and even something to take home for four-legged friends.

Children will love experiencing local wildlife up-close with plenty of friendly and furry farm friends. The Chittering Wildlife Carers will also be attending with their joey, cockatoo, corella and more.

Across each day the schedule of fun for the kids will be filled with FREE activities including garden planting, performers, face painting, and arts and crafts.

The perfect picnic spot once guests have wandered through the markets and food trucks!  Specially designed as a relaxing picnic space, this is the place to kick back and enjoy live music, soak up the countryside, and indulge in local treats.

Watch live cooking demonstrations in action at the festival Masterclass Studio.  The schedule of free live cooking masterclasses will be announced soon!

Admission to the fully licensed event includes a free fresh pressed juice, coffee, beer or wine for just $18 online or $20 at the gate (concession $10 and $12), with FREE ENTRY available for children (under 18) and local Chittering residents*.
