Educated By Nature School Holiday Incursion

Past Event

Educated by Nature is a social enterprise with a mission to connect families and schools with nature in order to build individual, community and environmental resilience.  During the July School Holidays they will be visiting us in Bindoon with two different incursions to provide an opportunity for your kids to get active in the outdoors, and have some messy, unstructured fun!

Muddy Gully - 2 sessions available (10 - 11.30 & 12.30 - 2): Ages 4-12

Natural clay offers tactile experiences that engage the senses, inspire creativity and support fine and gross motor skills. This incursion gives children an opportunity to take sensory risks in a supportive environment. Sloppy, firm, gooey and muddy clay is available for small scale or full body exploration of clay in various forms. Natural ochres are provided for face painting with an indigenous connection. Water play is also an important part of this incursion - a chance to tip, pour, collect and splash, so please bring a towel, and a change of clothes.

Tinkering Zone - 2 sessions available (10 - 11.30 & 12.30 - 2): Ages 4-12

Tools provide a sense of empowerment, provide children with a chance to take risks and experiment with transforming materials. In this incursion children have the opportunity to use hammers, hand drills, saws and whittling tools to carve, cut, drill, saw and tinker. Developing physical skills and confidence the Tinkering Zone provides a place to make and create.
6 parent helpers are required for both Tinkering Zone Sessions.

Unless there is an extreme weather event (as per the Bureau of Meteorology) the event will go ahead in any weather.  Please dress accordingly.

A sausage sizzle lunch will be provided for participants.  BYO water bottle, a towel and a change of clothes.
