The Chittering Fire Service provides fire prevention and suppression service for the area, with the exception under the care and control of the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC), and the gazetted fire districts controlled by the WA Fire and Rescue Service.

The bush fighting district consists of mostly rugged country areas, lakes, rural properties and buildings.
