Verge and Landscaping

Verges (the land between your property boundary and the road), are the property of the Shire of Chittering.  Prior to works commencing on any verge written approval is required.

Permission to burn your verge for hazard reduction purposes, can be sought from the Chief Bush Fire Control Officer.

The Verge Development Protocol is a "living" document - this means that the requirements of the protocol will evolve over time as our understanding of the issues involved with the design, construction and maintenance of sustainable verges in Chittering grows.

Submission of a "Verge Development Permit Application Form" is required for all landscaping on verges within the Shire of Chittering.
