Reporting Damage

To report pot holes, damaged kerbs or footpaths, flooded streets, blocked drains, damaged reserves (including play equipment) or any other maintenance issues contact the Shire’s Technical Services Department on (08) 9576 4600 during business hours or alternatively lodge a Works Request Form.

Traffic control signs and traffic lights are the responsibility of Main Roads WA.  To report damaged signs and lights contact Main Roads WA on 1800 800 009. Damaged or missing street signs can be reported by contacting the Shire’s Technical Services Department on (08) 9576 4600 during business hours.

To report faulty streetlights contact Western Power on 1800 622 008.

Verge tree pruning

The Shire maintains verge street trees and has implemented an extensive annual maintenance program to prevent trees interfering with overhead cables and vehicles travelling on the Shire’s roads. If you notice a tree or shrub that requires pruning you can contact the Shire on (08) 9576 4600 or alternately lodge a Works Request Form.

Verge ownership and treatment

The verge area in front of your property is owned by the Crown. It is vested in Council to ensure the verge area is not mistreated or damaged and any utilities located underneath the area are protected. Residents may improve the verge area, subject to written approval from Council. Please contact the Shire’s Technical Services Department on (08) 9576 4600 for further information.

Crossovers

Crossovers or private crossing joins the driveway from the property boundary to the road.

All buildings and developments approved within the Shire are required to have a crossover constructed. Council contributes to the initial installation of the first crossovers.

Maintenance and repairs are the responsibility of the current owner. For more information on crossovers contact the Shire's Technical Services Department on (08) 9576 4600.
