THEY SIPPED, THEY SHOPPED, THEY SAVOURED AND ENJOYED!

Chittering welcomed over 5,000 people to this year’s Taste of Chittering.  In celebration of the event’s fifth year the theme was based on the traditional anniversary gift of ‘wood’.

  • They Sipped… local wine thanks to Bindoon Estate, Glenowen Farm, Kyotmunga and Stringybark, brewed soft drinks from the 14K Brewery and freshly squeezed citrus juices provided by the Immaculate Heart College Parents & Friends group.
  • They Shopped…at the nearly seventy classic country market stalls, the majority of which were local.  ‘Gaps’ were filled firstly by stalls from the region, and then we did let a few ‘townies’ in!
  • They Savoured… lunch in the open air, subtle smells of paella, sizzled sausages, gourmet burgers, popcorn, roast beef rolls and crepes permeated the air all day.  Other tasty choices to take home included local produce, fantastic fudge, olives ‘n’ oils and home baked muffins, plus the local CWA were serving ‘Chitteringshire Teas’.
  • They Enjoyed… the free activities on the Village Green… baby farm animals, local native animals, airbrush tattoos, takeaway worm farms, card-making, local firies, #warocks decorating and Laser Tag.

The Shire of Chittering, as the event facilitator, would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the financial sponsorship received from Lotterywest, TRONOX and the Office of Road Safety.  Grateful thanks also go to ACE Dynamic, Avon Waste, Chittering Youth Krew, CLP Photography, Fun Airbrush Tattoos, Northern Valleys News and The Worm Shed for their in-kind support.  And without the many (over 250!) hours donated by volunteers, from near and far, the Shire wouldn’t be able to continue hosting this amazing local showcase.
