Muchea Bushfire Exercise - Saturday, 28 October 2017

Public Notices

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services with the support of the Shire of Chittering are planning to conduct a “RURAL URBAN INTERFACE” exercise in Muchea area on Saturday, 28th October.

The exercise will be attended by volunteer fire-fighters from both the Fire and Rescue and Bush Fire Brigades, and is intended to evaluate the performance of personnel when defending properties in a rural urban interface environment.

It will involve a theoretical fire scenario with crews assessing properties and allocating resources to defend those properties based on the information provided.  In real terms, this means that fire-fighters may attend your property to conduct an assessment of the level of bushfire preparedness in order to determine the resources required to defend the property in the event of a fire.

At the conclusion of the exercise (and potentially during) Muchea residents will have the opportunity to receive specific advice on steps that you can take to improve your property’s preparedness and defendability in a bushfire situation.

The exercise is planned to commence at 0900hours and conclude no later than midday on Saturday, 28th October 2017.  On the day an exercise control point will be established at the Muchea Volunteer Bushfire Brigade station, with personnel available to answer any questions that you may have on the day.

Should you have any objections to fire-fighters accessing your property or any other specific concerns in relation to the planned exercise, please contact me on telephone (08) 9576 4600 or email chatter@chittering.wa.gov.au no later than close of business on Friday, 13th October 2017.
