Chittering Shire partnered with the City of Swan to deliver the first of four fantastic local school holiday activities ~ Soccer Clinics for Primary and High School aged participants.  Over 60 girls and boys participated, plus, just like a real match, there were loads of spectators.

The clinics were not only a great opportunity to learn new skills, they also provided a gauge as to how much interest there was from local children, young people and their families to participate in soccer.  Interested residents will be invited to come together to discuss potential future soccer programs in the Bullsbrook area.  Watch this space!

The other three activities were facilitated by proactive locals.

SandWizard enjoyed two hours in the ADRA Hall with 19 budding artists creating magical sand art pictures.  With a new variety of designs ‘hot off the press’, there was plenty to choose from.  Visitors travelled from Bullsbrook and Perth to share in our local SandWizard experience.  SandWizard will be back for the next school holidays so be sure to keep an eye out on the Shire website for when and where.

Bindoon Men’s Shed headed out of their shed and into the Bindoon Hall where they built kites with 19 local kids.  It seems that Mother Nature had forgotten that it was winter and the breeze was a little light on, but it was all good news at the end of the day.  Persistence meant that all of the kites, even the box kite we’re told, got to be flown.  At the end of the day there were a few tired children (and adults, truth be told!).

Jungle Body with Sally D added Kids to their Konga, hosting a group fitness class for kids of all ages at the Muchea Hall.  26 Kids, from two to twelve years old, enjoyed half an hour of boxing, dancing and cardio to all the latest tunes (including some Wiggles favourites!).  The class was so enjoyable that even a few of the mums couldn’t help but join in.  After the class everyone was invited to enjoy some yummy raw protein balls and freshly squeezed fruit juice, which was kindly provided by YB Healthy.

If your organisation would be interested in providing a school holiday activity please liaise with Lisa Kay at the Shire.  The Shire supports suitable activities through promotion and provision of equipment, where possible.
