CHITTERING RECOGNISES THE VALUE OF SMALL BUSINESS

Media Releases

The Shire of Chittering is pleased to announce that in signing the Small Business Friendly Local Government Charter it is showing its commitment to being small business friendly.

The Small Business Friendly Local Governments (SBFLG) initiative was developed by the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC), the only State Government agency focussed on supporting small business in Western Australia.

The Shire of Chittering is the first Shire (a number of Cities and Towns are already participating) to be approved to display the Small Business Friendly Local Governments logo.

The Shire of Chittering is looking to continue to improve the way it interacts with small businesses operating in its community, to ensure that it is offering an attractive location in which to maintain or establish a thriving small business.  It values local small businesses because they bring many benefits to the community including creating employment opportunities, providing goods / services and building a vibrant economy.

SBDC Senior Policy & Advocacy Officer, Lauren Westcott, said “The Shire of Chittering should be extremely proud of what it is already doing for small businesses; I think it will make a perfect example of a really good practice local government.

Please visit the SBDC website (https://www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au/business-in-wa/about-sbdc/small-business-friendly-local-governments-initiative/) for more information about the SBFLG initiative, and for more information about Shire of Chittering activities visit www.chittering.wa.gov.au/development/small-business-friendly.aspx.
