Over 300 Chittering locals, and neighbours, enjoyed a perfect, balmy night outdoors recently for “Screen on the Green”.
The Haley family were especially happy to be there, as the winners of tickets to “Finding Dory ~ Green Class” they enjoyed special seating (which they got to take home), free tickets to Circus Royale (in Muchea this long weekend along with lots of yummy snacks*. *Special thanks go to Phil’s Icecream, Mt Gabbie Popcorn ‘n’ Fairy Floss and Chittering-Bindoon CWA (coffee and cake)!
It was fantastic to have CWA support at the event. This year the Chittering-Bindoon branch celebrates over 70 years in our community and they have purchased a commemorative bench which will be unveiled at a special event in May. The bench was just one of the projects that was financially supported by the Shire of Chittering through the annual Community Assistance Grants Scheme. 2017-2018 applications close on the 17 March. Please call Alison at the Shire for information if your local community group has a project that they would like financial assistance with.
In 2017-2018 the Shire hopes to provide support for local groups who would like to utilise the Shire’s outdoor movie package to host their own fundraising “Screen on the Green” events. It was exciting to hear that the CWA are considering the idea, plus Shire staff have a nifty retro event idea they are working on, so keep an eye on the Shire event calendar for details.
The Shire of Chittering hosts and supports a number of events each year. Coming up we have Beats in the Park formerly the Muchea Youth Festival which will be held at Edmonds Reserve on 18 March, followed by a new event to take place at the Brockman Precinct on 8 April. We look forward with anticipation to Swag Fest and then to wrap up the financial year will be the fourth Wear Ya Wellies (28 May at Edmonds Reserve).
