The Shire of Chittering is one of WA’s oldest and fastest growing local governments. Our current population is 4,996 residents (as per 2013 ABS)
With an expanding population we are faced with the challenge of delivering the necessary infrastructure to cater for our growing community’s needs, whilst ensuring that our impact on the environment is minimised.
The Shire of Chittering is committed to long-term investments in key projects that will help fast track our regional development, improve existing infrastructure, increase tourism and general economic growth for the future.
All development within the Shire of Chittering requires Council approval and here you can find all the forms and information sheets regarding your development application.
Before purchasing any property with the Shire, it is advisable to check with Council’s Planning and Building Departments as to whether there are any zoning restrictions, flooding problems, filling requirements, building restraints or sub-divisional problems involved. The Shire of Chittering is always conscious of identifying ways to improve its procedures for the benefit of the community. In order to improve the process of obtaining a determination on your planning, building or health application the Shire's Development Services Team have developed an easy-to-use, downloadable checklist to guide you through the Planning, Building and Health processes. Hopefully this will save time for all involved in both submitting and processing these applications.
The information provided in the checklist is an easy to follow guide for residents and applicants to provide all of the required information necessary to allow Shire officers to make an informed determination on your application. For the larger, more complicated, applications it is recommended that you arrange a pre-lodgement appointment to discuss your application prior to formal lodgement - we are here to help.
