Scholarships and Awards

During the calendar year the Shire of Chittering will ask for nominations from residents for awards and scholarships that are available through the Shire.

Currently, the Shire allocates funds in its annual budget for:

  • Education Scholarship Award
  • Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award

Education Scholarship Award

Every year the Shire of Chittering budgets for two Scholarships of $1,000 each are available - 1 for a student graduating year 7  and one for a student graduating year 10 at the end of the following school year.

To be eligible, students must be residents of the Shire of Chittering and be continuing their schooling in the next year. Selection is based on academic achievement and the contribution the student has made to their school and local community.

The Shire of Chittering places a very high value on young people being well educated, as well as being encouraged to become a part of their school and local community, and recognising the importance of education for young people is vital for any community.

The Scholarships offered to students will assist with the school fees, uniforms, books and other extra curricular activities that may otherwise be missed out on, like school trips and camps. The money is forwarded to the school the student attends where it is held in trust until needed.

Applications open in September 2013.

For more information about the scholarships please contact the Shire's Manager of Human Resource on (08) 9576 4600.
